History

SS1

Leg1 located in the west side of Helan Mountain, north part of Bayanhaote, Alax Zuoqi, Inner
Mongolia, crews will explore the east edge of Tengger desert. Vehicles will be heading on steppe
tracks, ravines caused by water flows from Helan Moutain will be a big challenge for both pilots
and navigators to make the right decision. National road 314 next to Yiketian marks the start of
desert steppe when the crews are heading north. On country road 752, crews will turn to north-
west and encounter with dried rivers where a lot of soft mud and big rocks will be seen, by the
very north of country road 752, direction changes to south and the stage ends around
Bayanhaote. The whole stage is located in the transaction area of Tengger desert and Helan
mountain, most of the terrain will be in hills.

SS2

The general course of SS2 and SS3 will be the same, but the two stages will have very different
way point settings. Crews will explore Tengger desert in these two stages, starting from the
north part of FB Festival, right next to the dream road, close to Tongguozhuoer (which called Big
Swan Lake by local herdsman). The first 30km will be hard road covered by shallow sand, after
passing through the Swan lake, the road becomes steppe tracks. Direction will change from
north-east to north and then north-west. From about 55km, crews will enter the desert from
west- north direction, and reach the finish close to Taoligazha. The 2 and 3 stages will be the
most difficult stages. Affected by the wind, Tengger desert runs from north to south , and the
racing route spends on the opposite direction, crews need to go through the dunes by cutting
the ridge. It will be crucial for all crews to pick the right route on those magnificent dunes.

SS3

The general course of SS2 and SS3 will be the same, but the two stages will have very different
way point settings. Crews will explore Tengger desert in these two stages, starting from the
north part of FB Festival, right next to the dream road, close to Tongguozhuoer (which called Big
Swan Lake by local herdsman). The first 30km will be hard road covered by shallow sand, after
passing through the Swan lake, the road becomes steppe tracks. Direction will change from
north-east to north and then north-west. From about 55km, crews will enter the desert from

racing route spends on the opposite direction, crews need to go through the dunes by cutting
the ridge. It will be crucial for all crews to pick the right route on those magnificent dunes.

SS4

In the last stage, crews will continually explore the Tengger desert. Start from the dream road on the north-west of FB-Festival, all vehicles will be heading north into the desert. 7 km after the crossing of dunes, direction will change to west and pilots will drive along the valley between dunes. By PC1 (31KM), there will be a small freshwater lake called Huisen which means belly button in Mongolian. Another desert lake—Abuxige will be found after CP1 while the direction gradually changes to north-east. Crews will turn 90 degree to the right and heading to north- east along the dunes after passing desert lake Boeyite. With the dunes becomes smaller and smaller, vehicles will reach the tracks from the first part of SS2(SS3) and finish around Tongguzhuoer Lake.
