Vladimir Vasiliev awarded free entry to the Silk Way Rally for his win on Baja Russian Northern Forest

The first event of the World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, 2020 Baja Russia Northern Forest, took place last weekend in Russia (Leningrad Region).

Baja Russia Northern Forest and the Silk Way Rally have maintained friendly relations for a long time, providing each other support during these two largest international cross-country competitions that are held in Russia.
As the SWR registration is about to open on February 15, Baja competitors got an opportunity to meet rally organizers at the venue of Northern Forest, Igora Drive Sport and Entertainment Center, to learn the route, entry fees and transportation options.

This year a lack of snow in Russia caused the one and only winter Baja in the world much trouble and almost forced the organizers to cancel the event due to warm weather. But only two days before the start the temperature finally fell below zero, it started to snow, so the competitors were able to enjoy this unique race and make their significant achievements.

The Baja was entered by over 25 crews from Russia, China, Brazil, Spain, Belarus, Portugal, Latvia, Turkmenistan etc.

The Silk Way Rally Directorate kept up with its traditions and awarded the 2020 Baja Russia Northern Forest champions a free entry to the upcoming edition of Silk Way Rally.

This time the crew of Vladimir Vasiliev and Vitaly Evtekhov became the fastest. After many years of competition Vladimir, who is also a Northern Forest’s co-organizer, finally captured such long-awaited victory. In the past unfortunate tire blowouts didn’t let him to come better than in second place.

The pilots received their SWR entry certificate on the award-ceremony: SWR Deputy Director for international issues Yury Shashlyuk congratulated the champions, handed the prize and expressed his best wishes, and SWR Media Director Lina Arnautova introduced a new route and welcomed everyone to enter the summer competition.

The Silk Way Rally 2020 will be held from the 3rd to the 16th of July across Russia, Kazakhstan and China. 12 days of exciting journey are available to trucks, cars, SSV, quads and bikes.
